Job Summary

The Student Enrollment Specialist reports to the Volunteer & Student Enrollment Manager and is responsible for engaging new students and families while assisting with Thread’s New Student Enrollment Process. Through engaging with new community members and collaborators, the Student Enrollment Specialist works to support student recruitment and enrollment efforts, data entry and ongoing communications. Additionally, the Student Enrollment Specialist will support with the planning and execution of student enrollment interviews, family and teacher engagement events, and ensuring all new members of the Thread community are armed with a strong understanding of Thread’s model and specific expectations, as well as knowledge of the resources available to them as they join the Thread community and assume their new role.  


Key Responsibilities

Student Enrollment:

  • Work closely with staff to execute our new student enrollment process, including logistics, interviews, paper collection, and home visits for students enrolled in our 4 partner high schools
  • Ensure timely and accurate collection of student enrollment paperwork and data entry
  • Conduct phone calls and home visits for families and students throughout the interview process
  • Collaborate with volunteers and staff to ensure that targets are met for numbers of students interviewed, collection of paperwork, and number of students enrolled
  • Make logistical arrangements and coordinate student enrollment activities with school based contacts.

Student Orientation and Onboarding:

  • Support with the development, refinement and documentation of a comprehensive orientation strategy that addresses expectations, structure, environment and culture for students
  • Support with the execution of student interviews and onboarding processes
  • Manage and execute all new student and family communications
  • Ensure that new students and families are aware of Thread policies and have completed all necessary paperwork in order to join the Thread community



  • Comfort interacting with diverse populations including high school students, parents/guardians, and school-based staff
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to conduct home visits to speak with students and parents/guardians
  • Ability to work nights and weekends is required
  • Strong technical / technology, administrative and data entry skills required
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Strong alignment and personal buy-in to the Thread model, mission, vision and theory of change required
  • Collaborative approach to finding solutions
